Class Curriculum
Program Background
Offender Solutions® Inc. began working with alcohol offenders years ago and it soon became clear that fines and suspensions, etc. alone did little to influence behavior, beliefs or attitudes toward alcohol use. Over time, Offender Solutions® became a nationwide leader in alcohol education, developing the highest‑quality online class available. Our program uses an evidence‑based, cognitive restructuring and psycho‑educational model focused on the student’s attitudes, values, and beliefs.

Course Objectives
The primary goal of the Rethink‑a‑Drink™ class is to help students examine their own attitudes, values, and beliefs about alcohol use. The course is built around five key objectives:
- Empowerment: Developing personal responsibility for decisions and understanding how attitudes influence risk.
- Education: Learning the short‑ and long‑term consequences of alcohol use.
- Skills: Building alcohol refusal strategies and practicing “in‑the‑moment” techniques.
- Victim Awareness: Recognizing how alcohol misuse affects friends, family, peers, and the community.
- Values Development: Encouraging introspection and evaluation of personal values related to alcohol use.
Course Format
This is a four‑hour online curriculum containing hundreds of pages of content. The course is delivered through an interactive online classroom that includes videos, readings, quizzes, and multimedia presentations. The structure is designed to be comprehensive, engaging, and accessible to students of all backgrounds.
Program Development
Offender Solutions® was founded through the combined 43 years of experience of a master’s‑level Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC), a parole officer, a juvenile probation officer, two college instructors, and a justice system policy analyst. Their combined expertise shaped the course’s structure, delivery, and educational approach.
Evidence‑Based Approach
The program uses best practices and evidence‑based principles. Offender Solutions® emphasizes victim awareness, accountability, and personal responsibility. Our cognitive restructuring approach is recognized as one of the most effective interventions for behavior change.
